The legendary Eddie Murphy will return to “Saturday Night Live” this winter. Murphy, 58, will host the show on December 21. This will be the first time Murphy has hosted the show in 35 years.

Murphy rose to fame as a regular cast member on the show in the early 1980s. His popular characters included “Gumby” and an adult version of “Buckwheat” from The Little Rascals. Murphy earned three Emmy Nominations for his performance on the show before his departure in 1984.

The news of his “SNL” return comes amid several other projects he has coming up including a sequel to the hit film Coming to America and starring in a Netflix film Dolemite.
