Tune in to our sister station H.U.R. Voices Sirius XM 141 on February 26th at 8PM ET for a special program called “The Freedom Riders”. It is an hour long special and explores the formation of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

SNCC was created on the campus of Shaw University in April 1960 to coordinate the growing student movement. SNCC participated in sit-ins, voter registration drives, and the Freedom Rides.
