The 2020 Democratic ticket is now officially BidenHarris. News broke late Tuesday afternoon that Sen. Kamala Harris is Joe Biden’s vice presidential candidate after months of speculation. Harris ended her own Presidential campaign last year. She is the first African American and South Asian American woman chosen to be a major party’s candidate. Harris is also only the third woman in history to be on a Presidential ticket.

A native of Oakland, California, Harris is a graduate of Howard University and the University of California. She began her career as a District Attorney and eventually became Attorney General in California. She is only the second African American female Senator in U.S. History.

The virtual Democratic National Convention begins August 17. first Vice Presidential debate is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7. Election Day is November 3.
