June marks the celebration of Black Music Month.

The formation of Black Music Month began when several members of the Music Business developed an idea to formally celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of black musicians globally. After the campaign spread nationally, Former President Jimmy Carter hosted a reception to formally recognize Black Music Month.

In 2000, a resolution was passed to celebrate Black Music Month Nationally and was changed to African American Music Appreciation Month.

From R&B To Jazz, from Hip Hop To Rock, Black Musicians have left an indelible mark in the world of music. Today, we celebrate the cultural contributions of African American musicians world wide.
