Adele has made history with the release of her new album 25. According to Billboard, 25 sold 3.38 million albums in its first week. Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, 25 became the top-selling album in the United States for the year of 2015. Adele’s previous album, 21, returned to the top 10, first time since 2012; her debut album 19, climbing to the top 20, making her the first act since 2012 to have three concurrent albums in the top 20.

The songstress’s album isn’t the only thing breaking records. Her first single off of 25 , titled “Hello” is the first new song we heard from Adele since the birth of her baby boy, Angelo, in 2012. The world first heard a snippet of it during a commercial break on the X-Factor in the United Kingdom. The song officially released on October 23 on BBC Radio 1. The single debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 100, and broke the record for the first song to sell over a million digital copies in its debut week.

Success didn’t come overnight for this English beauty. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on May 5th, 1988 in Tottenham, North London. She found musical inspiration from the Spice Girls and began singing at the age of four. She attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology and graduated in 2006.

In 2006, she began to get noticed by record labels and in September was invited to a meeting with XL. They signed her, and the rest is history. In February 2008, her first album 19 was released. Her success in the United States started when she performed her single at the time “Chasing Pavements” on an episode of Saturday Night Live. She won two Grammys in 2009 for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Performance.

With singles from 25 like “Hello” and “When We Were Young”, Adele is topping charts, breaking records, and making history three years after the birth of her son. The singer has also announced that she will be embarking on a European tour, titled “Adele Live 2016,” beginning February of 2016.
