Lorna’s Newton’s signature program “The Connection” is a 4 hour music intense show airing live Monday thru Friday 2:00 – 6:00 pm where you as a listener can experience music that entertains, news and information that transforms, as well as interviews from the hottest celebrities and even a live in studio performance every now and then. If it is happening in the World … you might hear it on “The Connection”.

Legato Lycx
Hosted by Joe Gorham, “Legato Lycx” (Smooth Beats) airs Monday through Thursday 6:00 to 10 pm. It offers relaxing, energetic rhythms and smooth ballads. It’s a cornucopia of Jazz Fusion, Neo Soul, Contemporary Jazz, Latin Jazz and R&B with a world twist.

The Takeover
Hip Hop with a hint of R&B—every Friday and Saturday from 6:00 to 10pm EST. The music you’ll hear can be coined as “Progressive” Hip-Hop. The Takeover is dynamic, with a relaxed style that hits issues of the day, explores roots of the music, and, in the process, bridges the gap between generations exposed to the music. The topics range from politics to relationships, from music to fashion. Some of the featured segments on The Takeover are “Bridging the Gap”, which focuses on music that has been derived from previous productions (i.e. sampling); “Are You High”, which focuses on the outlandish moments of the day and of course “Club Takeover”, which gets the listeners in the mood for the night ahead of them. The Takeover is a program that provides good music, with good content, that adds for a good weekend!

Black History Moments
At WHUR-WORLD we understand that Black History is a 365 day experience. As a result, we offer Black History Moments-- 60 second vignettes focusing on contemporary Blacks making history today in America.

The Mix
The Mix is a music intensive show that incorporates various music genres. The show is both entertaining and informative through its vibrant music and lively segments. The show airs Monday thru Friday from 6AM to 10AM EST. The Mix is a little bit of this with a little bit of that. There is something for everybody on The Mix.

Blues on Blues
Blues on Blues is a music intensive 2 hour program that highlights the best of the blues, its heritage, and its artists. “Blues on Blues” airs Saturdays at 11 AM EST. We are looking to expand the hours as more material is added.

Let’s Talk Money
This is a half hour program, hosted by WHUR news reporter Taylor Thomas , featuring business news and insightful interviews with aspiring and veteran entrepreneurs who talk openly about money matters. The goal is to keep listeners up to date on financial matters that directly/indirectly affect them.  It airs once a week on Fridays at 11:30 AM (EST).

The Sighlent Storm
The “Sighlent Storm” is a half hour program, hosted by Mandrell Birks and Denise McCain, airing on Saturdays at 9:00 AM (EST) which is unique in its consideration of the issue of violence against women and men. It emphasizes many interrelated aspects of the issue – physical abuse, sexual assault, young adult violence, hate crimes across the lines of gender, and the gender bias in our judicial system that further victimizes survivors of abuse. The term “Sighlent” is defined as abuse being ignored by families, communities, politicians, and faith based organizations. WorldBeat Experience
The WorldBeat Experience is a four hour weekly program airing Sunday afternoons 2:00 – 6:00 PM (EST) and featuring music that serves as an educational and entertaining link for the peoples of the world.  The music comes from Africa, The Caribbean, Asia, Europe, Central and South America, as well as, North America .  Co-hosted by two veterans from WHUR’s Carribbean Experience, on-air personality John Blake and assistant producer Lisa Hollomand, the program presents music highlighted by selected and occasional interviews with artists.
