Celebrating Women’s History Month!

March 1st 2014 marked the celebration of Women’s History Month. A month filled with highlights of the contributions women have made to history and contemporary society. Women’s History month began as International Women’s Day in 1911. In 1978, Women’s History Week began and later became nationally recognized in 1980 by a proclamation signed by President Jimmy Carter. Seven years later, Congress signed a bill designating March as National Women’s History Month. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment.”
